6 Things You Should Do After Writing a Blog Post
You’ve just put the finishing touches on a great blog post that you’ve written. You’re ready to publish it live. The world is ready for your great content but is your blog post ready for the world?
Here are 6 things you should do after writing a blog post.
1. Choose a smashing image
Use your own image or a royalty free stock image with attribution or even buy an image to use. Don’t simply grab one from the internet; there could be copyright issues.
2. Optimise the blog post
Look at your subject matter and consider which keywords and keyphrases someone looking for this topic might search for.
Are there places you can sprinkle those keywords and keyphrases in without taking from the readability of the post? Be sure to use a descriptive title and category for your blog and add relevant keywords to your tag fields as well as your image info.
Finally, make sure your blog post is eye-friendly too, with things like bullet points, lists or separation by inserting useful subheadings.
3. Proofread it
Doing a proofread in “preview” mode is the best way to do a check of your blog post, as you’ll see any obvious alignment issues, be able to test out any links you’ve added into the post, as well as preview the image to ensure it looks as you imagined it would. This is also your opportunity to check for typos too.
4. Post the link on your social media accounts
After publishing your blog post, make sure to give it some “social media love”. You might even want to add a plug-in to your blog that autoposts to your social media accounts for you.
5. Watch for feedback on the blog
Watch for feedback in the comments section, as well as on social media sites. If people interact with you about your blog posts, it creates a great opportunity to draw more attention to it.
6. Plan your next blog post
Planning your next blog post ahead of time is a great way to keep momentum going so that you can build a relationship with your readers and gain favour from search engines.
Search engines like to send traffic to new content and the more often you post high quality and informative content, the more successful your blog will be.
