Do People Think Your Blog Is Boring?

Is your blog entertaining and educational and engaging enough? Or do people think your blog is boring? How do your readers react to your content? Their reactions can be very telling.

If you’re new to blogging, learning how to blog takes time. It also takes a keen eye for detail. Getting acquainted with your website traffic reports and regularly looking at how your visitors react to your website will help you determine which blog posts offer the best and worst results.

How’s your traffic?

Is your latest blog post generating traffic? How long, on average, does that traffic stay on your page? Is there usually a click through to another internal page? Which posts get the most positive results? Can you see differences between those highly visited posts and the ones that aren’t getting all that much traffic?

This can help you plan for future content writing.

Blog comments

Do you get comments on blog posts? If not, maybe it’s time to tweak your approach.

A good method of engaging your users is by ending a blog post with an open-ended question. Comments are a good thing, as search engines see them as a sign that traffic should be sent to a specific blog post. Also many commenters will subscribe to future comments so that they can continue to participate in a discussion.

But a word of caution! Don’t let all comments through. Moderate them to filter out the spam, trolling and blatant self-promotion attempts that provide no value to the conversation.

Social media response

Posting content on social media is helpful, too. Not only does this give you the potential to attract traffic to your blog, but when you see a retweet or a comment related to a post online, it can help you see which content is getting the most reaction.

Make every post a winner

It’s not likely that every single blog post you write will be a huge winner. But the more often you post and the more often you analyse results, the more evidence and knowledge you’ll gather. This way you can refine your style to minimise boring blog posts and maximise the potential that your audience will like what you’re saying and generate more traffic to your website.
