The Tale of “A Birdie Told Me”

There was once a girl who lived on the edge of a vast meadow, where the sky stretched endlessly and the wind carried secrets only the birds could hear. She spent her mornings beneath the old oak tree, watching the swallows dance and the sparrows chatter among the branches. Though she loved their company, she often wondered what were they saying to one another? What stories did they carry on their wings?

One quiet afternoon, as the sun cast golden streaks across the sky, a small bird landed gently on her outstretched finger. Unlike the others, this one did not flit away in haste. It tilted its head, studying her with eyes full of something deeper. An understanding, perhaps. Then, to her astonishment, it spoke.

“I have a message for you,” the bird whispered, its voice as soft as a breeze.  The girl’s heart skipped. “For me?” she asked. The bird nodded. “There are things you cannot see, but they are there. The wind carries them, the trees whisper them and we…” it spread its tiny wings, “we sing them.”

She felt a warmth bloom in her chest, as if something unseen had been waiting to awaken inside her. The bird continued, its song weaving through the air like a forgotten melody, telling her of journeys yet to be taken, of unseen wonders beyond the hills and of a world far more alive than she had ever imagined.

And then, just as suddenly as it had come, the bird lifted off, its wings carrying it back into the vast, endless sky.

The girl remained beneath the oak, her heart full of something she could not name. Though she did not know exactly what the bird had told her, she understood its meaning. There was magic in the quiet moments, in the whispers of the wind, in the songs of the world. She only had to listen.

And from that day on, she did.

About the Art Print

“A Birdie Told Me” is a beautifully evocative piece that combines silhouette and soft, atmospheric colour blending. The dark outline of the hand, holding the bird, creates a striking focal point in contrast with the light, pastel hues of the background. The delicate blending of blues, yellows and purples gives a dreamlike quality, evoking a sense of calm and serenity, as if time itself has slowed in this quiet moment.

The bird perched gently on the finger is symbolic of trust and communication, and the soft focus of the background adds to the sense of fleeting, intimate connection. The composition is both minimalist and deeply emotional, with the subtle interplay of light and shadow enhancing the quiet beauty of the scene. This artwork is a delicate invitation to reflect on the small moments that speak volumes.
