How to Create Your Facebook Vanity URL

What is a vanity URL?

Α vanity url is the web address for your Facebook page. By default, Facebook assigns a random number to the web address of a page. However, you can choose to set a shorter and memorable web address for your Facebook pages.

Creating a custom-branded “vanity” URL for your Facebook page gives it an easy-to-find and easy-to-share URL that looks professional and branded.

How to create your vanity URL on Facebook

1. Visit www.facebook.com/username and choose a page.
   
   
2. Choose the appropriate page by clicking the dropdown menu next to “Page Name” and choose the page you’d like to claim the vanity URL for.
   
   
3. Choose a desired username for your page and check for its availability. Remember, the username will be the part of the URL that follows facebook.com/  so don’t use spaces, symbols, etc.
   
   
4. Click “Check Availablity” to see if the username is taken. If it’s available, then just click “Confirm”. In case it’s taken, then try a different username and click “Check Availablity” again.
   
   
5. Upon successful request, a dialog box will pop up to confirm your page username. Click OK.

What are the guidelines?

• Usernames must be at least 5 characters long
  
  
• Your page must have at least 25 fans to establish a vanity URL
  
  
• You can’t claim a username someone else is already using
  
  
• Your username should be as close as possible to your true page name
  
  
• Usernames are not transferable and you can only change your username once
  
  
• Usernames can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) or a full stop (“.”)
  
  
• Full stops (“.”) don’t count as a part of a username
  
  
• Your username must adhere to Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities
